the backdrop of growing global security challenges, experts are increasingly drawing attention to the russian crypto-economy, which effectively circumvents international sanctions thanks to the latest digital tools.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the Astraea website published an analytical article entitled \u201crussia is one step ahead in the game of \u2018find the mole\u2019\u201d, the authors of which were Ukrainian researchers, including financiers and digital security specialists, in particular <a href=\"https:\/\/umdigital.science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UMDS<\/a> experts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alexandr-chernykh-383853203\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oleksandr Chernykh<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dr-tatiana-dmytrenko-b06120ab\/?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_recent_activity_content_view%3BkhRWMkgpRZmzvHqiq6ReDw%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tetiana Dmytrenko<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/vladyslav-tsvirkun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vlad Tsvirkun<\/a> and a dually qualified English solicitor and Ukrainian lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dr-khrystyna-khanas-5b7611106\/overlay\/about-this-profile\/?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base%3BW8J5iT%2F%2FSX%2BBM3Vu3q3NsQ%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Khrystyna Khanas<\/a>. The material exposes the shadow crypto-economy of the russian federation, emphasizing that key transactions are carried out with the help of state-owned mining companies, Chinese digital currencies (mCBDC) and North Korean mixers.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the strategic importance of the topic, Ukrainian media rarely cover it, and instead of taking decisive action, the state is engaged in secondary campaigns \u2014 in particular, against online content, while turning a blind eye to the activities of crypto exchanges in Kyiv, which annually pump billions of dollars to circumvent sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>The digital war continues \u2014 and it is on this front that Russia is gaining an advantage, breaking through sanctions barriers through technology. Back in February, the issue was raised at the international conference \u201cSocial Justice and the Digital Economy,\u201d and recently the BBC partially addressed it. However, this is only the \u201ctip of the iceberg.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKrystyna Khanas and other experts regularly publish new analytical materials. But these are read mainly by volunteers, individual lawyers and researchers. Although the official answer sounds like \u201cwe don\u2019t know how,\u201d in reality it lies in the political plane: there are sanctions against banks and the agricultural sector, but there are none against cryptocurrencies.
