href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/unodc\/en\/organized-crime\/global-fraud-summit\/\">Global Fraud Summit 2026<\/a>, a global initiative organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unodc.org\/\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime<\/span><\/span> (UNODC)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.interpol.int\/en\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">INTERPOL<\/span><\/span><\/a>, aimed at strengthening the global fight against financial fraud in the digital age.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2670\" data-end=\"3213\">The summit brought together international experts, law enforcement agencies, analytical institutions, and private sector representatives to address emerging threats posed by global fraud networks. Particular attention was given to scam centres operating across Southeast Asia, which use artificial intelligence, cyber tools, and impersonation techniques to defraud victims worldwide on a massive scale. These operations are part of a broader criminal ecosystem that includes money laundering, malware distribution, and cybercrime-as-a-service.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3215\" data-end=\"3581\">Despite increased international attention and enforcement efforts, these networks remain highly adaptive, frequently relocating across jurisdictions to evade disruption, while victims continue to lose billions of US dollars annually. Individual cases, where victims lose millions to seemingly legitimate schemes, highlight the scale and sophistication of the threat.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3583\" data-end=\"3818\">A key focus of the summit was translating political will into concrete, long-term impact, including strengthening national capacities to collect, analyse, and share electronic evidence, and enhancing effective cross-border cooperation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3820\" data-end=\"4201\">Within this platform, UMDS reaffirmed its commitment to advancing analytical capabilities, developing innovative tools, and fostering international cooperation to counter fraud involving virtual assets and digital financial instruments.
