On November 7, Ukrainian Modern Digital Science (UMDS) experts Oleksandr Chernykh and Vladyslav Tsvirkun took part in the Blockchain Forensic Forum 2025 — the first scientific-practical conference in Ukraine dedicated to blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital asset forensics.
The event was organized by the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Examinations (KNDISE) in partnership with the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
In their speeches, UMDS experts emphasized the need to systematically develop blockchain forensics as a new field of forensic expertise that is essential for building reliable evidence in cases involving digital assets.
Oleksandr Chernykh focused on the technical aspects of blockchain analysis and the use of forensic tools to trace transaction chains and asset provenance, while Vladyslav Tsvirkun discussed institutional cooperation between expert institutions, law-enforcement agencies, and the private sector.
The forum brought together representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, Prosecutor General’s Office, Bureau of Economic Security, Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), State Service of Special Communications, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, as well as international organizations EUAM and Pravo-Justice.
Its goal was to create a professional dialogue platform to exchange experience and strengthen forensic capacity in the field of digital criminalistics and financial investigations.
Key discussion topics included blockchain as an evidentiary tool, seizure and management of virtual assets, counter-terrorist financing, training a new generation of experts, integration of blockchain with artificial intelligence, and implementation of European digital forensic standards (ISO 27037, ISO 27043).
Participants noted that Ukraine has all the prerequisites to become a regional leader in blockchain forensics by combining strong IT education, scientific expertise, and practical experience of forensic institutions.
UMDS continues to expand cooperation in blockchain forensics, organize educational initiatives, and support the development of a modern digital justice ecosystem in Ukraine.
