On 7 September 2026, Mykhailo Tiutin, an expert of the Community Organization “Ukrainian Modern Digital Science” (UMDS), participated in the Annual Conference of the International Society of Economic Criminology — ISEC , held at  Kingston University Town House  in the United Kingdom.

The conference brought together leading representatives of academia, law enforcement and regulatory authorities, government, industry and civil society. Participants discussed current and emerging challenges related to financial crime and fraud, corruption, money laundering and sanctions evasion, economic cybercrime, transnational organised crime, as well as risks arising from new technologies and artificial intelligence.

Particular attention was given to translating research into practice, strengthening public-private partnerships and promoting meaningful cross-sector collaboration. Mykhailo Tiutin’s participation contributed to the international exchange of UMDS expertise in financial crime prevention, compliance, financial investigations, sanctions policy and digital asset regulation.

In 2026, ISEC launched its first suite of awards recognising excellence in economic criminology research, professional practice, collaboration and innovation. UMDS Chair Tetiana Dmytrenko and UMDS expert Mykhailo Tiutin also contributed to the selection process for the ISEC Awards 2026 nominees. The winners were determined by ISEC members and announced during the awards ceremony concluding the annual conference.

UMDS highly values its developing cooperation with ISEC and supports the Society’s mission to bring together researchers and practitioners, advance interdisciplinary research and develop effective responses to economic crime. This international engagement opens new opportunities for joint research, publications, educational initiatives and professional knowledge exchange.
