On March 21, 2025, the international conference “AML/CFT in Digital World – 2025” took place in Kyiv at the Ramada Encore Kyiv Hotel. The event gathered experts from over 10 countries, researchers, representatives of the financial sector, and government regulators. Held in a hybrid format – both offline and online – the conference served as a key platform for discussing risks and solutions in the field of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing in the era of rapid digitalization.
The main topics of focus included:
- Artificial intelligence and its application in detecting suspicious transactions;
- Regulatory changes in AML/CFT legislation;
- Control of cryptocurrency transactions and response to cyber threats;
- Integration of AML procedures into mobile financial services;
- Big Data and behavioral analytics in the detection of financial crimes.
One of the conference speakers was Dr. Tetiana Dmytrenko, an international AML advisor to the UNODC, Chair of the NGO Modern Ukrainian Digital Science, and Head of the Department of International Finance and Financial Security at the Research Institute of Financial Law.
In her presentation, the speaker shared practical insights on implementing a risk-based approach to monitoring digital asset operations. Special emphasis was placed on the use of modern blockchain analytics tools, which are increasingly utilized not only by financial institutions but also by law enforcement agencies around the world.
A separate focus was given to public-private partnerships in the analytics domain. Tetiana Dmytrenko highlighted the contribution of Ukrainian companies, which have already become part of the global ecosystem:
