From 3 to 7 November 2025, the Advanced Strategic Analysis Course (A-SAC) took place in Douglas, Isle of Man, successfully organized by the Egmont Centre of FIU Excellence and Leadership (ECOFEL).
The workshop gathered over 35 participants from 17 Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) across the Europe II region, aiming to strengthen their capacity to produce high-quality strategic analysis, particularly focused on Virtual Assets (VAs).
UMDS experts Oleksiy Feshchenko and Mykhailo Tiutin participated as guest trainers, guiding FIU analysts through practical exercises using sanitized datasets and real-world analytical frameworks.
Throughout the course, participants collaborated on developing a final strategic analysis product and engaged in peer-to-peer exchanges led by experienced mentors.
In his session, Mykhailo Tiutin focused on three emerging directions in AML/CFT strategic intelligence:
-
The growing importance of data science in VA strategic analysis — how data-driven models and analytics are key to understanding ML/TF risks at scale.
-
Differentiating analytical tools for VA activity vs. VA tracing — and why both are essential for producing actionable intelligence.
-
Macro-level stablecoin flow analysis — showing how cross-border movements can reveal money-laundering patterns, sanctions evasion, and unlicensed financial operations.
“It was a great opportunity to engage with FIU analysts across the Europe II region and discuss rapidly evolving challenges in the virtual asset ecosystem. My thanks to ECOFEL for creating such an impactful platform that pushes strategic intelligence forward,” — said Mykhailo Tiutin.
ECOFEL extended its appreciation to all trainers, participants, and especially the Isle of Man Financial Intelligence Unit for their generous hospitality.
UMDS congratulates its experts on their contribution to enhancing global FIU capacity in Virtual Asset intelligence and reaffirms its commitment to supporting strategic AML/CFT cooperation within the Egmont Group community.
