The Department of Criminal Analysis and the Department of Cyber Police of the National Police of Ukraine will cooperate with the NGO “Ukrainian Modern Digital Science” to combat crimes involving virtual assets
The memorandums of cooperation of the parties were signed respectively by the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko, the Head of the Cyber Police Department Yuriy Vykhodets and the Chairwoman of the Board of the NGO Tetiana Dmytrenko.
Cooperation provides for the exchange of experience in combating the use of crypto-assets in criminal activities, cybercrime using virtual assets and cryptocurrency. In the future, it is planned to involve the police in the work on the improvement of by-laws and the introduction of international and European standards into national legislation regarding virtual assets and combating money laundering.
Head of the Cyber Police Department Yuriy Vykhodets noted: “In the conditions of war, the issue of using digital currencies to implement criminal schemes is particularly acute. Our enemy uses cryptocurrency not only to finance war crimes, but also to avoid sanctions against his state. We are establishing cooperation and involving our partners in order to promptly respond and effectively counter crimes related to the legalization of proceeds of crime.”
